Hello ENG 103 class, My name is Isabel and my major is Human services - Mental health. I am planning on pursuing a career in social work after my two years here at LaGuardia. I would like to attend either Adelphi or Hunter in the near future. I prefer working with people where I can use my time and effort to help others all the while learning about people and there minds. I enjoy Psychology and have taken many courses like developmental psych. general psych. and intro to psych. This is also reflected in the books I like to read. I typically like to read books that are psychological thrillers, books about romance and deceit and books about teenage angst and our youth trying to make it in this society. I like authors like Ted Dekker, who has written many psychological thrillers like Thr3e, Skin, and Blink of an eye which are three of my favorites. I like twisted paranormal romance authors like Laurell K. Hamilton, Stephanie Meyers, L.a Banks, and Sherrilyn Kenyon. I have what my family calls a "small library" in my room of all my books that I have acquired into my personal collection over the years as my literary taste matured and I began dabbling in other genres. My film taste isn't much different, I love scary movies, movies that deal aspects of psychology and foreign movies with crazy plot twists. I love books and movies that shock me and have me thinking way after I've finished. I am a bit of a technology optimist because I do enjoy the quick an easy access to millions of books via my kindle. Technology has both positive and negative impacts on many things such as society, people. the way we live, how we communicate and how we teach. I do believe the positives out weigh the negatives because it bridges the gap between communities, allows access to information and creates an entire new world right at our fingertips.
